great central access to museums and restaurants for city strolls

during my stay, I loved how close the hotel was to both the National Museum of Costa Rica and the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, making it super easy to dive into the culture with just a short walk, and I also found myself enjoying the shops and restaurants nearby that added to my weekend adventure in the city.

I arrived at midnight and was left waiting outside for 20 minutes without any staff in sight. When someone finally showed up, there was no apology for the delay, and I was handled roughly. Initially assigned to a shared dorm room instead of my booked private room, I was eventually given a disability room without hot water, which added to my frustration.

I had a pleasant stay with helpful staff and a comfortable room equipped with good AC and WiFi access. The shower was powerful and hot, a great feature. However, I found the breakfast options to be overpriced and the cleanliness of the room varied between visits.

This hotel offers a great balance between affordability and comfort, especially appreciated during my solo travels. The location is prime, right on Avenida Central, making it easy to explore vibrant San Jose. Plus, the breakfast options were hearty, offering a delicious menu of local favorites.

Street noise.

the noise from the street was a bit distracting (especially at night). the staff were super kind and helpful! breakfast included fresh fruits and traditional gallo pinto. plus, the location was perfect for exploring local shops!

Target audience budget travelers

The staff was genuinely friendly they made sure I was comfortable during my stay. One night I came back late and they even helped me with directions to a nearby spot for dinner.

It wasn't affordable but still reasonable for what you get.

This place was a great fit for a weekend in San Jose with great value for the money. The staff was super helpful when our taxi wouldn't start, they even came outside to assist. For a better experience, look for a room away from the street to avoid noise at night.

I had a great stay at Nuevo Maragato Hotel & Hostel! The staff were helpful and accommodating, especially Luis, who made sure I was in a peaceful room away from the street noise. The breakfast options were pretty decent, and I really appreciated the air conditioning and free WiFi in my room. The location was perfect, right in the heart of downtown, making it easy to explore the area.
